Geography

     Sarıgöl ditrict is connected to Manisa province in the Aegean Region. It is surrounded by  Denizli district in east, Buldan and Kuyucak in sorthern and in the west with Alaşehir district.

     Sarıgöl the southeast of Manisa  surrounded with Gediz Plain in the middle and west, and Alaşehir Plain in the east.Those plains are rugged by Uysal Mountain in southern and west part and northern by Bozmountains extension. 

    Soils of province have been washed by Kocaçay and Derbent Stream where is the origin of the Alaşehir Creek.

     Afşar Barrage consisted a artificial lake that was founded above the Alaşehir Creek.It is 320m high from the sea level.Sarıgöl is 140 km away from province and has 320m area with total 35.261 population.

 

Climate Cover

     In the district   the Mediterranean climate is dominant and Sarıgöl  has transition climate between interior, west and southern part of the Aegean Region.Summers are hot and dry and winters mild and rainy.

 

Economy

     The district’s economy is depend on agriculture.Mainly grown products are; grape ,wheat , barley, corn and cotton also apart from those it is among the grape producer districts.Sesame, olive and cherry is produced in small quantity.

 

History

   The old name of Sarıgöl is Inegöl.It can be understood from  legacy and inscription that once there has been settlement since the ancient times.but in the local it is hard to make chronogical settlements correctly..But Sarıgöl was the thir place to spend a night on the way to the king extending to Simyra(İzmir), Magesia(Manisa), Sarde(Sard), Philadephia(Alaşehir) and Hierapolis(Pmukkale).

    Sarıgöl  was previously sovereigned by Libyans towards the end of the B.C II.centry and then managed by the Rome Empire and Byzantium.

    After Malazgirt War(1071) Alaşehir and Sarıgöl vicinity stayed as christian feudal lord.It was often handed over  betwwen Seljuks and Byzantines.After the destruction of Seljuks Sarıgöl was sovereigned by Saruhanboys and by Yıldırım Beyazit managed by the Ottoman Empire 1391.After Timur invaded there it was again included to the Ottoman lands.

    In XIX.cetruries Sarıgöl was depend on Aydın sanjak but then after I. Constitutional Monarchy ıt was depend on Alaşehir district. During the I. Worl War according to the rules of Mondoros Truce; İzmir, Sarıgöl as well as Manisa was invaded by Greeks and 4 September 1922 Sarıgöl got rid of  those invasions.
